چکیده

Driven by the imminent need to rapidly process and classify millions of AGN spectra drawn from next generation astronomical facilities, we present a spectral fitting routine for Type 2 optimised high volume processing, using Quasar Spectral Fitting library (QSFit). We analyse an optically selected sample 813 luminous at $z < 0.83$ Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) qualify its performance. report median narrow line H$\alpha$/H$\beta$ Balmer decrement 4.5$\pm$0.8, alluding presence dust in region (NLR). publish specialised QSFit signal noise ratio general double peaked applied on sub-sample 45 our parent sample. red blue peak velocity separation 390$\pm$60kms$^{-1}$. No trend is found or peaks exhibit systematically different luminosity ionization properties. Emission diagnostics show that all sources are illuminated AGN-powered ionizing continuum. Finally, examine morphology host galaxies find reside merging systems comparable frequency single AGN. This suggests phenomenon likely have bi-conical outflow origin majority cases. publicly release code used analysis produced catalogues this work.

QSFit: Automatic analysis of optical AGN spectra

We present QSFit, a new software package to automatically perform the analysis of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) optical spectra. The software provides luminosity estimates for the AGN continuum, the Balmer continuum, both optical and UV iron blended complex, host galaxy and emission lines, as well as width, velocity offset and equivalent width of 20 emission lines. Improving on a number of previ...

Principal Component Analysis of AGN Spectra

We discuss spectral principal component analysis (SPCA) and show examples of its application in analyzing AGN spectra in both small and large samples. It can be used to identify peculiar spectra and classify AGN spectra. Its application to correlation studies of AGN spectral properties and spectral measurements for large samples is promising.

Double - peaked Balmer line emission in the radio - quiet AGN RX J 1042 + 1212

We present optical and X-ray spectra of a radio-quiet X-ray selected AGN, RX J1042+1212 (z=0.271). The hα and hβ emission lines are very broad (with full widths at half maximum of ∼10000 km s) and have double-peaked profiles. Such features are rarely observed in AGN in general but are even more unusual in radio-quiet objects. The analysis of the ROSAT PSPC data reveals a non-varying, unabsorbed...

Reinstating Combinatorial Protections for Manipulation and Bribery in Single-Peaked and Nearly Single-Peaked Electorates

Understanding when and how computational complexity can be used to protect elections against different manipulative actions has been a highly active research area over the past two decades. A recent body of work, however, has shown that many of the NP-hardness shields, previously obtained, vanish when the electorate has single-peaked or nearly single-peaked preferences. In light of these result...
